The Gee Bee racers of the thirties hark back to an era when the only thing that mattered was winning.  The Granville Brothers of Springfield, Massachusetts basically stuck the biggest engine they could find on the smallest airframe possible.  Known for their difficult handling, they set the standard during the air races of that wild decade.
